GSDM Student Leadership Award AY2016

　
1. Comment of the Selection Committee
Hayashi san has carried out a number of quite successful activities within the program, fulfilling the profile of a well-rounded leader who is capable not only of initiative, but of perseverance, ability to mediate between different instances, diplomatic skills, attention to detail.
Hayashi san created a strong connection between his core research interests and GSDM activities by using SIP, IEL, and the summer camp. He organized an SIP in both AY2015 and AY2016 on data analysis with his colleagues, calling a successful IEL with more than thirty participants. Furthermore he is among the most active students in volunteering for presentations, in the Summer Camp, International Strategic Advisory Board, as well as the Spring Camp. GSDM staff recognized that although his activities may not appear especially conspicuous, they show nevertheless that Hayashi san has remarkable skills in the management of complex projects involving human relations with both peers and faculty.
　
2. Comment of the Prize Winner
Thank you for this honorable award. I am so happy that my three years of activities and efforts in GSDM finally bear fruit. I am thankful for the faculty members in GSDM and my supervisor Professor Ohsawa to give me many opportunities.
　
Leadership cannot be achieved by one person. I think that it will be made by collaboration, exchange, friendship and followership with colleagues and the interaction with society. I am convinced that I achieved this award with all the people involved in my three years. Especially, I thank my friends who worked hard together in Student Initiative Project.
　
Leadership has no end. I think that this award is the beginning of my leadership. I will continue to challenge various issues in the society with my colleagues with this great award as the starting point for my new leadership.
