1. Comment of the Selection Committee
Masuda san possessed a strong ability to suggest ideas for the solution of social problems, as well as to manage any related project until its completion. Within GSDN, he initially organized a Student Initiative Project (SIP) concerning ethical education in AY2016. On that occasion, Masuda san and his team members provided an opportunity for GSDM students to broaden their ethical horizon while thinking about social issues. His team successfully developed an acknowledged game scheme for ethical capacity building. In addition to carrying out the SIP as a leader, Masuda san trained his juniors and successfully handed over his position to them in AY2017. The project provided learning opportunities to approx. 100 high school students and left a non-negligible impact on educational circles and the future generation. His activities show that Masuda san has a remarkable ability to apply his own ideas to the real society while trying to solve social problem.
The GSDM teachers’ body recognized that Masuda san has been fulfilling the profile of a democratic leader who is capable not only of initiative, but of harmonizing with his junior members, demonstrating a powerful ability to negotiate and create a network with various stakeholders.

2. Comment of the Prize Winner
I am sincerely grateful for the prize. I reckon that much of my leadership was demonstrated in the SIP activities which was launched by me and successfully flourished in this fiscal year. Through GSDM activities, I gained hands-on experiences of leading a team interacting with external practitioners. My positive mind-set such as loving the team and being enthusiastic about the project was the key element of my leadership.
Nevertheless, I believe that the project could not have been successful without efforts of all of the team members, the GSDM mentors and external professionals who kindly provided us with knowledge and opportunities. Here, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all of the contributors.
