GSDM International Summer Seminar 2017

We are calling for participation in the GSDM Summer Seminar in Taiwan.
Please refer to the details below and send your application.

１．Number of Students
4 GSDM Students

２．Application Deadline
Apply to Prof. Yagi (yagi@fs.a.u-tokyo.ac.jp) by email.
The deadline is 6:00 pm Monday, June 26th 2017

Please note only applicant who can participate in the whole trip (refer to the below schedule) is eligible.

３．Interview
We will have an interview and select the participants. The interview will be held 3:00-6:00 pm on June 27th or 3:00-6:00 pm on June 28th at Yayoi Campus.

４．Venue of the summer seminar
National Taiwan Ocean University at Keelung, Taiwan, and Fishing Communities along the Pacific Coast in its adjacent areas

５．Overview
Theme: Sustainable Seafood and Marine Spatial Planning
Participating universities: the University of Tokyo; University of Rhode Island (USA); National Taiwan Ocean University (Taiwan)
The major topics of this summer seminar will focus on how to balance between marine related industries and environment, which include sustainable seafood, the development and management of fishery industry. A series of discussions and presentations on given topics as well as group work among students from various academic backgrounds from different universities. Lectures by professors and experts from the participating universities and field trip (including interviews with local people) are scheduled. Participating students are expected to start communicating with each other through email to prepare prior to the seminar.
