【Summary】
The IEL will consist of a look into one of the most pressing societal issues of our generation: the refugee crisis. Yuji Shinohara, from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and alumnus from the UTokyo, will present his first hand experience helping refugees in Turkey and Serbia, and how innovative social enterprises can help in times of crisis.
Together, with the help of the UTokyo innovation hub (ischool: http://ischool.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/about/), participants will brainstorm on what are some pressing issues and opportunities arising due to forced migration.
Lastly, the IEL will serve for students wanting to participate in the Hult Prize on Social Entrepreneurship http://www.hultprizeat.com/tokyo to learn more about the challenge and opportunity to win 1 Million USD and help 10 Million people whilst representing the University of Tokyo in a Regional Final of their choice (San Francisco, Boston, London, Dubai or Shanghai). Particularly we will look into the expected contents for the pitch, judging criteria to be followed and will facilitate an opportunity to find additional team members.
