Call for application for GSDM Initiative ‘Medical Devices and HTA’

Dear GSDM students,

 

We organized the project GSDM Initiative – medical devices and HTA- to fascinate the communication among researchers and students in the fields. If you are interested in, please apply for it by Wed. Aug. 20. We look forward to your applications.

 

<Summary>
Participating students need to have several team meetings in UT to discuss the state-of-the-art medical device research, and relevant Japanese regulatory issues and HTA. The team meeting will be supervised by several GSDM faculty members. The students will give presentations at the workshop that will be held at the Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (the company producing da Vinci surgical systems) in California. The cost for the visit will be covered by GSDM.

 

<Workshop>
Dates: in fall or winter, to be determined considering the participants’ schedule
Place: Intuitive Surgical, Inc. headquarters in Sunnyvale, California
Workshop agenda:
•Intuitive Surgical company overview [30 minutes]
•Hands-on demonstration of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System [1 hour]
•Presentations by The University of Tokyo: medical robotics research [1 hour]
(Tentative presentation titles (joint presentations): Trend of medical robotic research in Japan (2 students), Medical device approval in Japan (2 students), HTA related to medical robots and other innovative medical devices (2 students))
•Questions and discussion [30 minutes]

<Application>
Please submit 1-page abstract to office@gsdm.t.u-tokyo.ac.jpby Mon. Aug. 20.
The abstract should contain; name, email, course, grade, department, name of your supervising professor, summary of research (<200 words and one figure), possible contribution to this GMSI Initiative (<200 words).
Your application should be approved in advance by your supervising professor.
Please include his/her email address in CC when submitting the application. Students will be selected by interview.
