“Innovation to achieve Sustainable Development Goals: personal reflections from two decades”

■Summary : Our SIP group conducted a Survey and Based upon the results, it was found that there were a lot of participants interested in Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and 11(Sustainable Cities and Communities) of the SDGs. In order to further promote individual’s understanding for aligning their research goals to with aforementioned SDGs, to invoke thoughts on importance of inter-disciplinary collaboration and partnership (Goal 17 of SDGs) to achieve these goals and to provide Career guidance, we are planning to invite guest speakers. Our speakers, Dr. K. E. Seetha Ram and Dr. Lakshmi Seetha Ram. Both of them are alumni of The University of Tokyo.

Dr. K.E.Seethraram’s professional expertise lies in the field of Development Corporation, Infrastructure policy and Diplomacy.

Dr. Lakshmi Seetha Ram did her MD PhD from the faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo.

They both will their share stories relating to goals on education, health, water, housing, sanitation, climate change, poverty alleviation and partnerships based on their vast experience of 25 Years in the related fields.

Through this IEL, we want to provide students of GSDM and outside GSDM an opportunity to learn from experience of an Industry leader. The IEL will constitute a brief introduction related to topic, followed by interactive activities/ discussions through means of case-studies or workshop. IEL will include a brief session on Importance of collaboration and Career Guidance for the people interested.
